autumn’s bliss (haibun)

© Clr’14 taken first week of October – a stranger accepted to be photographed on this glorious day!

Shivering in the cool air shortly after dawn, you can see her breath in smoke signals as she walks quickly to stay warm. Lunchtime has a change of heart…

midday radiance
greets a summer’s breeze –
season’s treat
fall’s tucked up on a shelf
dead leaves shed their tell-tale scents

  1. Hard to think of fall as still having triple digit heat some days down here. Unwatered areas are baked with around 24 days of 100 + temperatures. It will be October before we are consistantly in 80 degree weather. You may be having snow showers by then. See how your words made my mind work! That is such a great thing for a poet.

    1. Such a lovely compliment!! thank you, Janice…it is about 85F today and forecast is a bit higher tomorrow. I feel bad for the kids at school. Here in Québec they started last Friday or Monday this week.

    1. Thanks so much…I remember how warm it was last year during Indian Summer and I asked this stranger if I could photograph her for my blog in a park dans le Plateau de Mont Royale.
