pure intentions (haiku + tanka)

Piecemeal puzzle,
blank stares, so ambiguous
mind reader, I’m not

masked games
troubled soul muddies any intent
of purity

pure and honest
how children know the rules
adults destroy

transparency
nothing can be more pure
truths told from the heart
hidden agendas trashed
left with pure chaste truths

Tackle it Tuesday on “purity”

river critters (Carpe Diem Tackle it Tuesday)

Photobucket

I used to love spending time at my GrandMaman’s house who lived by the river. I would spend mornings and afternoons on the dock, lying on my tummy watching the minnows swirling in circles and catfish jumping up now and then. I could never eat a catfish because they were like friends…pets to me. And the minnows would tickle my hand in the water and my ankles if I dared put my feet in the water. I say dare, because we were not allowed to venture in the water without an adult. I don’t ever remember disobeying that rule either. When I think of the freedom we had then that most children do not have today, I was pretty lucky to spend all that time alone with these little critters.

Tranquility-Haiku (Carpe Diem TackleItTuesday #1 Serenity)

Sri Swami Sivananda (1887-1963)

This week the first episode of Tackle it Tuesday is Serenity and it is based on the philosophy of Sri Swami Sivananda (1887-1963) who composed the song of the 18-ity.  He was born in the south of India an studied medicine.  He worked as a doctor several years in Malaysia. After that he settled in Rishikesh at the foot of the Himalayans where he devoted his life to yoga and the spreading of it.

The first ity was serenity and the goal was to meditate and contemplate about this ity and become silent. Every ity needs a week (or a month) to learn. After you have done all 18 ‘ity, you start again with number one and so on.  There will become a time that you have changed into a better person, more in balance.
